Nanny FAQs

  • Being a Crafty Guardian means you are more than a nanny. You are a trusted mentor, educator, and creative guide for children. Crafty Guardians provide safe, reliable, and nurturing childcare while also supporting learning, encouraging creativity, and helping children grow through hands-on, engaging experiences.

A Crafty Guardian blends childcare, education, and creative enrichment, offering families peace of mind and children a fun, productive, and inspiring environment. Guardians are expected to be professional, dependable, disciplined, and committed to helping each child thrive emotionally, academically, and creatively.

  • To become a Crafty Guardian, applicants must meet the standards of professionalism, safety, and reliability that families depend on. Requirements include:

    • Eligibility to work in the United States
All caregivers must complete the federal I-9 form and provide documents that verify identity and work authorization.

    • Ability to pass background and reference checks
Caregivers must demonstrate a record of safe, responsible childcare experience.

    • Strong childcare knowledge and experience
Crafty Guardians are expected to support children’s learning, supervise activities, help with assignments, and encourage creative skills.

    • Professionalism and reliability
Caregivers must follow schedules set by Crafty Guardian and families, report hours accurately, maintain punctuality, and communicate promptly.

    • Commitment to confidentiality
All Guardians must protect the privacy of families, internal processes, and company information.

    • Agreement to company policies
This includes following attendance expectations, workplace conduct, nondiscrimination policies, and quality-of-care standards.

    • Ability to provide safe and engaging care
Guardians should be dependable, creative, patient, and capable of supporting both educational needs and fun, hands-on learning.

  • If you’re not CPR or First Aid certified yet, that’s completely fine. Crafty Guardian will provide your CPR and First Aid training. This ensures every caregiver has the skills needed to keep children safe and respond confidently in an emergency.

We will guide you through the certification process and connect you with approved training sessions after onboarding.

  • Scheduling at Crafty Guardian is designed to be flexible. You can share your availability, and we match you with families whose needs fit your schedule. Some assignments are occasional or on-call, while others are more consistent week to week. You’ll always know your schedule ahead of time, and we work with you to make sure your shifts align with what works best for you.

  • Crafty Guardians are encouraged to bring fun, hands-on creativity into each child’s day. You don’t need to be an artist — just willing to engage children in meaningful, age-appropriate activities. Examples include:

    • Arts and crafts such as painting, drawing, or simple DIY projects

    • Music activities like singing, rhythm games, or basic instrument play

    • Storytelling, reading, or imaginative play

    • Building projects like Legos, blocks, or simple STEM challenges

    • Outdoor creativity such as nature walks, chalk art, or sensory play

You’re not required to be an expert. Your role is to inspire imagination, support learning, and help children explore their creativity in a fun and safe way.
